I first started my business, I was excited and full
of energy to finally be working for myself.
However,
after working many long hours and correcting a lot of
mistakes, I soon came to realize that owning a business was
going to be harder than I first thought.
Then
I discovered how to implement systems in my business and
implement a critical document - The Procedure Manual.
As
soon as I implemented this, my fortunes
turned completely around.
Almost
immediately it made a HUGE difference.
Finally,
after getting stressed over simple mistakes and frustrated at
staff because they were performing their jobs incorrectly, I had
finally found a solution.
Before
implementing a Procedure Manual I was spending most of my day
telling staff how to do things correctly or fixing their errors.
It felt as though I was 'working for them' instead of 'them working
for me.' This was very frustrating to be putting in so
much effort for such little reward.
Once

and this allowed me to spend more time building my business.

I started having more time to spend on the important business
building tasks and I actually started making more money.

a business is not simple. You have to deal with Marketing, Finances,
Cash Flow, Human Resources and the list just goes on and on.

soon as you employ people, the it gets even more complicated!

MUST implement systems in your business so that the 'systems run
your staff.'

as a reference tool.

even if you take a small 'leaf' out of their book and implement
it in your business, you will see drastic improvements.

and procedures are critical to your business success.

you want your business to be a success, you must aim to get your
business working on 'auto-pilot' as much as possible. The first
step to doing this is getting your systems organised and the first
system you should organise is the tasks that your staff perform
everyday.
If
you are working smart you will know that you need to get your
staff working for you.
No
doubt you are an expert at what you do and your staff are not
as skilled. This means you need to communicate the correct procedures
to them so they complete the job correctly.
The
last thing you want to be doing is repeating yourself everytime
a staff member asks you a question.
This
is why a Procedures Manual is a CRITICAL tool. Direct your team
to this document first and if they still have questions after
looking in the Procedure Manual, they can then come to you for
your assistance.
This
document is going to save you significant TIME and STRESS.
It is as simple as customising the document to suit your business
and then printing this document and giving it to your new staff
members so that they then know EXACTLY what is required
of them.
Whenever
they ask you a question - your standard response should be -
"Please
check the procedures Manual first. If you cannot
find an answer to your question in the Procedures Manual, then
and only then, please come and see me"
Remember,
this is how you must implement your Procedures Manual every day.
Within a few weeks, your staff should automatically go to the
Procedures Manual first before even asking you.
It
is important that you enter all your specific tasks into this
Manual so they have a reference tool . This means getting everything
out of your head and into the manual.
